​It has been my true honor to serve on the Hermosa Beach City Council for the past five years, and I am excited about the opportunity to continue representing our community. I see public service as a basic responsibility, a way of giving back to society for the opportunities I have been afforded. This commitment to service is why I became a firefighter, why I served on the Hermosa Beach Emergency Preparedness Commission, and why I have dedicated myself to our City Council. I am grateful for the incredible support and encouragement from our community, and I look forward to hearing about your vision for the future of Hermosa Beach.
Mike Detoy
Working on the front line of public safety
Michael is a firefighter for the City of Riverside. His title is Fire Captain, but
his job description involves much more. Michael’s work responsibilities
include:

Responding to emergency medical, structure fires, technical rescues, and hazardous materials calls

Fighting wildfires throughout the state of California as part of the Master Mutual Aid System

FEMA Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) California Task Force 6 member
Councilmember Detoy is dedicated to fostering teamwork and sportsmanship through youth sports. That’s why he volunteers as a coach for AYSO soccer and Hermosa Beach Little League T-Ball.
Michael Detoy is the most qualified Councilmember to manage our city budget.
Michael Detoy has a bachelor’s degree in finance and master’s degree in public administration.

Michael is also a fiduciary trustee of the International Association of of Fire Fighter’s Retiree Medical Trust. The trust has 300 million dollars in assets under management.

Michael will use his education and experience to strengthen the city’s fiscal profile.
